Day 01 CHENNAI
Arrive Chennai airport from Milan. Later transfer to your hotel for 1 night.
Overnight at Chennai.
Day 02 CHENNAI / MAHABALIPURAM (approx 1.5hrs)
Depart Chennai enjoy a city tour of Chennai later proceed to Mahabalipuram. Mahabalipuram was once a flourishing port of the Pallavas of ancient India. The monuments of sculptures are world-renowned and attracting tourists from all over the world. Morning for sightseeing of Mahabalipuram including the shore temple, Arjuna's penance & Artisans village etc. Afternoon drive to visit Kancheepuram, the ‘City of Thousand Temples’, is considered as the second holiest place of India and one of the seven sacred cities. It was successively the capital of the Pallavas and Cholas. This place is also famous for hand woven silk fabrics. Evening back to hotel.
Overnight a tMahabalipuram.
Day 03 MAHABALIPURAM/ PONDICHERRY (approx 3hrs)
After an early breakfast drive to Pondicherry. On arrival check in to the hotel for 01night stay. Pondicherry is a charming coastal town with a few enduring pockets of French culture, and an ashram. Afternoon to explore the nearby places including the Aurovilla, Pondicherry museum and the botanical garden. Evening to spend time at the beach.
Overnight at Pondicherry.
Day 04 PONDICHERRY/ TANJORE (approx 4hrs) .
Morning after an early breakfast drive to Tanjore. En-route visit Gangaikondachalam & Darasuram. Later proceed to Tanjore. Tanjore was once the capital of Chola dynasty of temple builders who ruled South India between 10th and 14th centuries. Visit the most spectacular Brihadeeswara Temple, capped by a monolithic cupola made of a single granite rock weighing 80 tons. The temple itself is decorated with carved panels depicting mythological events. Later visit Saraswathi Mahal Library and Art Gallery with a large collection of Chola bronzes – a unique example of Hindu Architecture. Overnight at Tanjore.
Day 05 TANJORE / TRICHY / MADURAI (approx 6hrs)
After an early breakfast drive to Trichy. Visit the magnificent Rock Fort that dominates the city. 437 steps cut out into the rock side and interspersed with shrines, lead to the Vinayaka Temple built at its highest point. The ascent is climaxed by a magnificent view of the sacred Kaveri River. At a lower level along the rock is the Tayumanaswamy temple dedicated to Lord Shiva & Srirangam a massive temple on an island in the Cauvery dedicated to Lord Ranganathaswamy. Later proceed to Madurai and check -in to your hotel for 2 night. Overnight at Madurai.
Day 06 MADURAI
After breakfast enjoy a half day tour of Madurai. Madurai known as the temple town of South India is the second largest city in Tamil Nadu and was the capital city of Pandyas. Madurai is famous for the Meenakshi Temple, with its towering gopurams and rare sculptures. Other important attractions include Thirumalai Naiker Palace, Koodal Azhagar Temple and the Gandhi Museum.,Afternoon at free. Overnight at Madurai.
Day 07 MADURAI / THEKKADY (approx 4hrs)
After breakfast transfer from Madurai to the Cardamom Hills.On arrival check-in to your hotel for 1 night. Later (optional) boating around the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. Often it is possible to see wild Elephants, Bison, Antelopes, Sambar, Wild Boar, Monkeys and many varieties of birds and possibly a Tiger. Periyar was declared a tiger reserve in 1978. Overnight at Thekkady.
Day 08 THEKKADY / KUMARAKOM (approx 3.5hrs)
After breakfast transfer from Thekkady to your backwater resort in Kumarakom. On arrival check-in to resort for 1 night. Later at leisure. Overnight at Kuamarkom.
Day 09 KUMARAKOM / COCHIN (approx 1.5hrs)
After breakfast transfer by car to Fort Cochin. On arrival check-in to your hotel for 1 night. Later in the day local sight seeing covering Fort Cochin and adjoiningMattancherry, visiting the Jewish synagogue. This area is known as Jew Town the center of the spice trade. Here you find numerous spice traders and many curio shops. Visit St. Francis Church, Fort Cochin, constructed by the Portuguese in 1510 and believed to be the first European-built church in India where Vasco Da Gama was initially buried, before his remains were returned to his homeland Portugal. (Optional) sunset cruise in the backwaters of Cochin. Overnight at Fort Cochin.
Day 10 COCHIN
